Boozy Knitting and Lamp Porn: London I

I’ve commenced on Project ‘Make-Shit-That-Other-People-Would-Buy’ this week. The London weather is making this much easier to manage, without my fingers sticking to the wool and the heat making me partial to the odd outburst of obscenities. I am suffering from a bit of RSI sore fingers though… but I knit through the pain. Because I am a badass.

Speaking of badass, after looking up yarn stores in London to begin said project, I expected to find some beautiful creative wonderland in which to find a pretty yarn store, and was disappointed to instead find this:

But luckily I Knit London was tucked away in there… very small and mainly housing fancy expensive yarn, but I managed to find some affordable little gems. They are also licensed and have a little couch in the middle for customers to come in and have a knit and a wine if they like, which is pretty awesome. I would be a little intimidated knitting in the middle of a room of people perusing the wool around me… but I like the idea. They also do classes and workshops there which I would totally join in on if I lived here!

So I’ve started on an 8 ply kind of ‘feature scarf’, and have enough wool to hopefully make about 4 colour combinations. The wool is 100% Merino from Peru and is super soft and lovely.

Other highlights of London this week include a vintage market housed in an old church in Hampstead Heath (sorry for the blurry crap-camera photo):

And some serious lamp-porn in Oxford:

Ooooh that's a nice lamp...

Ooooh that’s a nice lamp…

So many lamps!

Get a load of all them lamps!

Have a lovely week x
